Aviation

Our core competence in the field of aviation is the certification of metal and composite structures according to CS-23, CS-25, and CS-27.
Based on the regulations, means of compliance and your own standards we find the optimal combination of classical analysis, numerical FE-simulation, and test. For very complex tasks, we automate the process of structural analysis with customized software. By automating classical analysis methods, FE-simulation as well as data processing we create efficient solutions especially in iterative development projects.
Products for the aviation industry demand the highest requirements on safety and reliability. A clear strategy, consistent implementation and traceable documentation are key factors in developing and certifying compliant products quickly and cost-effectively.

Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Certification
Fatigue & Damage Tolerance (F&DT) certification according to CS/FAR requirements for metal and composite structures:
- Certification strategy
- Fatigue and test spectrum development
- Test planning, support, and documentation (coupon, element, component, and full-scale tests)
- Fatigue calculations (e.g. with AFGROW)
- Inspection interval calculation
- Tear Down Inspection Support

Interior Qualification
Certification of aircraft interior according to CS/FAR requirements as part of a Type Certificate (TC) or Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).
- Structural certification
- Flammability Certification (Fire Protection)
- Fire Containment Testing (Fire Protection)

Material und Fastener Qualification
Qualification of materials and structural elements according to CS/FAR requirements:
- Composite material qualification according to CMH-17
- Qualification of metallic materials and fasteners according to MMPDS (formerly MIL-HDBK-5)

Reliability of non-destructive testing methods
Probability of Detection (POD) for non-destructive testing (NDT) methods according to MIL-HDBK-1823A:
- Strategies for the determination of detectable damage size
- Design and execution of tests
- Data evaluation and interpretation
- Consulting for the optimization of the inspection process (improvement of reliability)

Automated Analysis
Analyses of complex structures are multifaceted and laborious. Often, designs and requirements such as load cases, failure criteria etc. change during the analysis process. This further increases the complexity of the task.
The solution: Fast iteration by automating the analysis with tailored software. We automate classical analysis methods, FE simulation as well as data processing with software in Excel VBA, Python, R Matlab or C/C++. This enables:
- Fast iteration with a few clicks, even with large amounts of data
- Adjustments to parameters or the analysis process are immediately visible in the results
- Simple data handling, preparation and presentation
- Early optimization of complex structures
- Rapid sensitivity analyses
